Creative Holiday Activity for Kids in Zürich
Looking for a fun and creative activity during the school holidays? Our Kids Summer Ceramic Club offers children aged 7–15 the chance to spend a morning creating with clay, learning new skills, and making unique ceramic pieces they'll be proud to use and keep.
Families can choose between the full 5-day camp (CHF 320) or book individual days (CHF 70/day), making it easy to fit around summer holiday plans. Each day features a different project, so children can join for a single creative experience or enjoy the full week of pottery, design, and hands-on making.

All materials, firing, glazing, and snacks are included, and every child will take home their own handmade ceramic creations once they have been professionally fired in our kiln.

Each day is a complete creative project
Monday | Breakfast Set
Introduction and start with basic hand-building technique
Handmade breakfast set:
- 1 mug or bowl
- 1 plate
Decoration and painting with favorite colors, animals, symbols, foods, or patterns
Tuesday | Treasure / Secret Box
“What would your secret box protect?”
- Build a personal treasure box with lid
- Learn slab-building and assembling techniques
- Sketch ideas inspired by favorite animals, cartoons, hobbies, magical worlds or favorite objects
Wednesday | Decorate the Secret Box
Bring the secret box to life with sculptural details and painting.
- Add decorations and sculptural details to the treasure box
- Create textures, patterns, figures, or symbols
- Paint and personalize the final design
Thursday | Photo Frame
Create a handmade ceramic photo frame
- Decorate with favorite animals, flowers, names, stars, textures, mini sculptures
- The photo frame can have different forms, adaptable to all ages
- Paint and personalize the frame
Friday | Finish touchings & Final Creative Project
“What object would make your everyday life feel more special?”
Kids can choose to create one final object, such as:
- toothbrush holder
- soap dish
- pencil holder
- little planter pot
- jewelry dish
- cereal bowl
- keys / bag decorative chain
All ideas are welcomed!
Teacher & Experience
The course is led by Catarina Teixeira, a trained ceramics teacher and co-founder of Ceramics on Wheels, with experience in children’s education, including teaching in private schools (ages 6–17), studio-based classes, and creative kids workshops and events.
All sessions are held primarily in English. However, our teacher can also provide support in Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian when needed.
Pricing
Our Summer Ceramic Club offers flexible booking options:
- Full week (5 mornings): CHF 320 per child
- Single day option: CHF 70 per day
Children may join for a single creative day or attend the full week, with each day offering a complete project experience.
We also offer a siblings / friends discount of 10% when booking more than one child.
This discount is valid only for the full week (5-day) camp option.
Materials & Safety
- All materials are included in the course fee
- We use only child-safe ceramic materials, including non-toxic clay and natural pigment-based underglazes
Note: All materials are washable, but we recommend comfortable clothing that can get messy.
The studio environment is designed to be calm, structured, and supportive, helping children feel safe, focused, and creatively free at the same time. Children are always supervised during sessions and guided step-by-step, with space for individual exploration.
Practical Information
The camp will take place in our studio at📍Dörflistrasse 50, 8050 Zürich
Drop-off: from 08:30
Camp: 09:00-12:00
Pick-up: until 12:00
Late pick-up after 12:30 will incur a fee of CHF 10 per 15 minutes.
During the camp, scheduled breaks will include snacks, fruit and water. Please inform us in advance of any allergies or dietary requirements. Children may bring an additional snacks if preferred.
Booking Conditions
- No refunds are issued for cancellations
- Changes to bookings are possible up to 7 days before the start of the camp
- After this period, bookings cannot be modified
- No-shows cannot be refunded or rescheduled
- Missed sessions cannot be made up or refunded
- If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the camp will be cancelled and all families will be notified 7 days in advance with a full refund issued.
Children are expected to behave respectfully and follow studio instructions. If a child’s behavior is unsafe or disruptive, we reserve the right to end participation without refund. Please note that we are not equipped to provide one-to-one support for children with special needs.
Final Pieces & Collection
Please note that ceramic work is a slow process. After the camp, all pieces will be dried, fired, and glazed twice in our kiln. Finished works will be ready for collection approximately four to six weeks after the last day of the camp.
We will notify you by email when the pieces are ready for pickup during studio opening hours.
