‍These terms and conditions govern your use of our ceramics workshop services, classes, and facilities. By booking a class or workshop, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before making a booking.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR WORKSHOPS AND COURSES

1. PURPOSE AND APPLICABILITY

1.1 These General Terms and Conditions ("GTC") govern all bookings, courses, workshops, events, and related services offered by Ceramics on Wheels, Zurich (hereinafter referred to as the "Studio").
1.2 These GTC form an integral part of every booking and agreement concluded between the Studio and any person registering for or participating in a course, workshop, event, or other activity (hereinafter the "Participant").
1.3 Any terms proposed by a Participant that differ from or supplement these GTC shall only apply if expressly accepted by the Studio in writing. Such acceptance shall apply solely to the specific case for which it was granted.
1.4 For the purposes of these GTC, communications transmitted by email or through the Studio's official booking and communication systems shall be considered equivalent to written correspondence.

2. CANCELLATIONS, RESCHEDULING AND REFUNDS

2.1 Cancellation by the Participant
a) All bookings become binding upon confirmation.
b) If a Participant is unable to attend, cancellation or rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing to the studio.
c) Rescheduling requests received at least 7 days before the scheduled workshop or course session may be accommodated free of charge, subject to availability. Any rescheduling is only valid once it has been explicitly confirmed by the Studio in writing (email confirmation). Until such confirmation is received, the original booking date remains binding.
d) Rescheduling requests received less than 7 days before the scheduled session cannot be accommodated.
e) Participants who fail to attend without prior notice ("no-show") are not entitled to a refund, credit, or alternative date.
f) As places are reserved exclusively for Participants and cannot usually be filled at short notice, cancellations made less than 7 days before the scheduled session, or after the session has commenced, remain subject to the full course fee. If payment has not yet been received, the studio reserves the right to issue an invoice for the outstanding amount.
g) Illness, accident, or other personal circumstances do not automatically entitle the Participant to a refund or rescheduling. Participants are encouraged to obtain suitable cancellation insurance where appropriate.

2.2 Multi-Session Courses
a) Participants enrolled in courses consisting of multiple sessions are expected to attend all scheduled classes.
b) One missed class may be attended as a make-up session during another available course, subject to availability and prior agreement with the studio.
c) Only one make-up session may be granted per course booking, regardless of the number of classes missed.

2.3 Cancellation by the Studio
a) The Studio reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule workshops or courses due to insufficient participant numbers, instructor illness, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond the studio's reasonable control.
b) Participants will be informed as soon as reasonably possible and, where feasible, no later than 12 hours before the scheduled start time.
c) In the event of cancellation by the studio, Participants may choose between: a transfer to another available date for the same workshop or course; or a refund of the course fee already paid.
d) The Participant must communicate their choice within 14 days of receiving the cancellation notice. Once a transfer or refund has been confirmed, the decision is final and cannot subsequently be changed.
e) Where bookings are made through external booking or ticketing platforms, service fees, transaction fees, or administrative charges retained by the provider may be subject to that provider's own refund policy and may not be refundable by the studio.


3. FINISHED CERAMIC WORK

3.1 Production Process
a) Ceramic pieces created during workshops or courses require a multi-stage process including drying, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing.
b) Completion times may vary depending on drying conditions, kiln schedules, and production volume. Finished work is generally available for collection approximately six to eight weeks or more after the workshop date.
c) Participants acknowledge that the ceramic production process requires sufficient drying and firing time and cannot be accelerated.

3.2 Natural Variations and Kiln Risk
a) Participants acknowledge that clay and ceramic materials naturally undergo physical and aesthetic changes during drying, glazing, and firing.
b) Variations including shrinkage, warping, cracking, glaze movement, colour variation, pinholing, or other surface effects are inherent characteristics of the ceramic process and do not constitute defects.
c) While the studio exercises care in handling, storing, glazing, and firing all work, no guarantee can be given regarding the final appearance, colour, texture, or condition of finished pieces.
d) To the extent permitted by law, the studio shall not be liable for loss or damage resulting from the normal ceramic production process, including breakage, cracking, warping, firing defects, glaze defects, or kiln-related losses.

3.3 Collection and Storage
a) Participants will be notified when their work is ready for collection.
b) Finished pieces must be collected within 30 days of notification unless otherwise agreed in writing.
c) If pieces remain uncollected after this period, and reasonable attempts to contact the Participant have been unsuccessful, the studio may dispose of, recycle, donate, or otherwise retain the work without compensation.

3.4 Shipping
a) Upon request, finished pieces may be shipped at the Participant's expense.
b) Shipping costs will be calculated according to the size, weight, quantity, and destination of the items.
c) The studio will package items with reasonable care. Risk of loss or damage passes to the Participant upon handover of the shipment to the carrier, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
d) The studio is not liable for loss, delay, or damage occurring during transport by third-party carriers.


4. HEALTH, SAFETY AND CONDUCT

‍4.1 Health Information
a) Participants are responsible for informing the studio before the start of a workshop or course of any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, disabilities, or other circumstances that may affect their participation.
b) Any information provided will be treated confidentially and used solely for the purpose of ensuring a safe and appropriate workshop environment.

4.2 Compliance with Instructions
Participants must follow all reasonable instructions provided by studio staff and instructors, particularly those relating to health, safety, equipment use, and studio procedures.

4.3 Participation by Minors
a) Unless otherwise stated in the workshop description, participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult.
b) Dedicated children's or youth programmes may be subject to separate age requirements and participation rules.

4.4 Exclusion from Participation
The studio reserves the right to refuse admission to, or exclude from participation, any Participant whose behaviour is disruptive, abusive, unsafe, or otherwise likely to endanger themselves, other participants, staff, or studio property. In such cases, no refund, credit, or replacement session shall be granted.


5. PHOTOGRAPHS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The studio may occasionally take photographs or video recordings during workshops for documentation and marketing purposes. Participants who do not wish to appear in such material must notify the studio before the start of the workshop. The studio will respect such requests wherever possible and process any personal data in accordance with applicable Swiss data protection legislation.

6. LEGAL REVIEW AND GOVERNING LAW

These General Terms and Conditions have been prepared with consideration of applicable Swiss law and are intended to comply with the relevant provisions of the Swiss Code of Obligations. These GTC shall be governed exclusively by Swiss law.
The place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland, subject to any mandatory statutory provisions.
